The Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou - THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD! Nowhere else in the world will you find a museum that includes the fields of glass and jewellery together, a collection of jewellery of all materials and technologies. You will find here the second largest collection of glass in the Czech Republic and at the same time one of the most important in Europe and the largest public collection of glass Christmas decorations in the world. The museum's entire collection consists of 12 million unique objects.
The fifth floor of the main building at the museum, covering an area of 380 sqm, is divided into four exhibition units that chronologically follow on from one another, from prehistory to the present. A trio of promising young glass artists will be given space at the JOURNEY TO THE STARS exhibition in the architecturally extraordinary space of the glass museum extension. Miroslava Ptáčková, Tomáš Prokop and František Jungvirt will be introduced.
For the first time this year, the project will also focus on the environmental aspect, with an exhibition and an educational program for the public and schools, both under the title MATERIAL : GLASS – PACKAGING. The goal is to present glass as a sustainable, infinitely recyclable material.
