The museum is in charge of the largest public collection of glass Christmas ornaments in the world, a collection that numbers more than fifteen thousand pieces. Most were donated by the Jablonex Company, which provided the museum with its entire range of samples of blown and decorated Christmas ornaments back in 2008. However, the collection also takes in contemporary production and historic ornaments from the beginning of the 20th century, the First Republic (including pieces donated by manufacturer Václav Berger from Bílá Třemešná), and the socialist era.
The exposition tells the story of the journey taken by Christmas ornaments to the promised land over the sea, the United States of America having been the most significant customer of these fragile goods. For this reason the exhibits have been installed in the shape of the colourful waves of the sea, accompanied by an ocean liner and skyscraper effects.
The author of the scenographic solution is the well-known designer Jakub Berdych Karpelis, the logo of the exhibition was created by David Matura.
The opening of the exhibition marked the culmination of a long-term project by the museum, the initial concept for which was developed as early as 2013 in connection with the planned expansion. The building itself, which was awarded the title of Building of the Year 2020, was officially opened on June 20 of that same year. We then opened the “World of Wonders” exhibition, dedicated to Czech glass Christmas ornaments, to the public almost exactly two years later, on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

AUDIO GUIDE
The museum can be toured with a spoken guide (Czech, English, German, Polish or Russian). You can listen to the recording using a special device – an audio guide – which you can borrow from the museum ticket office. It is easy to use and there are photographs of selected objects to accompany the voice recordings.
If you have a smart phone, you can find the recording over the Internet at home or in the museum lobby and listen to your chosen version on your own phone. Visitors with phones equipped with a QR code reader can find information beside the exhibits themselves.
