Trends.Design.Production
The flagship exhibition at the International Triennial of Glass and Jewellery brings together contemporary products made by companies from home and abroad (represented in the Czech Republic by a branch or agent), engaged in either handmade or automated production. It is not about presenting standalone pieces or prototypes, but about what companies have actually been selling over the past three years. Although it was the curators that chose the exhibitors, those exhibitors themselves have selected the products that represent them in three different categories: TRENDS, DESIGN, and PRODUCTION. While the first focuses on goods that resonate with current design or consumer trends, the second looks at products with high added aesthetic value, and the third concentrates on commercially-successful products. An international expert committee, consisting of renowned theoreticians and practitioners, awarded prizes to the best collection. The purpose of this concept is to provide visitors with an alternative to design shows, which from the perspective of business and exports showcase only a small, albeit important, part of contemporary Czech glassmaking.
