Reflection

Foreign glass artists working in the Czech Republic

Over time, what is now the Czech Republic became an oasis sought out by pilgrims that spoke all languages, looking for and fi nding here a well with water to quench their thirst for knowledge. Foreign nationals study at schools here, have their works made here. Some have even settled here for a while, or for good. Each of them naturally brings with them his or her own creative ideas and a specific cultural context. Synthesis with the Czech tradition of art and craft then makes their work quite unique. This is a singular creative reflex that transcends natural and artistic boundaries, from which both sides – the foreign artists and Czech glassmaking – profit at a theoretical and practical level.
