Event in exhibition - Emperor Franz Joseph I's visit to Jablonec nad Nisou and the Gebrüder Jäger company (1906)
In 1906, a grand exhibition of Czech Germans was held in Liberec. The city of Jablonec, its institutions, and numerous companies were also involved. On June 22, Emperor Franz Joseph I visited the event, and on Sunday, June 24, he also honoured Jablonec nad Nisou with a personal visit. Students from the local school of applied arts participated in the unique festive decoration of the city, and a tour of the school became part of the program. The local companies Gebrüder Jäger, Gebrüder Mahla, W. Klaar, and Franz Mänert were selected for the imperial tour. The Jägers specialized in cut glass stones and produced imitations of luxury jewellery. At the beginning of the 20th century, they were among the most progressive local companies, not only thanks to their comprehensive production and direct export, but also thanks to a number of technical and technological innovations.
The exhibition is in the permanent jewellery exhibition until 13. 6. 2026 on the occasion of this year's 160th anniversary of Jablonec nad Nisou promotion to city status.
