The Slovak National Museum - Historical Museum in Bratislava will present the TRENDS.DESIGN.PRODUCTION: BIJOUTERIE AND JEWELLERY exhibition in the premises of the Bratislava Castle. It will connect two collections of bijouterie and jewellery presented during the last year as part of the International Triennial of Glass and Jewellery JABLONEC 2023.
The first part of the exhibition, prepared by our museum, includes contemporary costume jewellery from twelve companies from the Jablonec region. They were presented for the first time as part of the main exhibition of the International Glass and Jewellery TRENDS. DESIGN. PRODUCTION last summer. At the Bratislava reprise, designer and commercially successful designs of manufacturers of glass and metal jewellery will once again be on display.
The second presented collection is original works created during the thematically focused International Symposium on designer jewellery, which took place in Jablonec nad Nisou in June 2023. It was attended by five jewellery makers from three countries, namely Martin Jošt Pouzar, Martin Verner and Kamila Housová Mizerová from the Czech Republic , Mia Čopíková from Slovakia and Carolin Denter from Germany. The topic of the works was the influence of computer technology on people. The jewellery on display includes computer components, often combined with jewelry components made of glass and metals.
The initiative to organize the exhibition came from the Slovak National Museum - Historical Museum in Bratislava. For the Museum of Glass and Jewellery Jablonec nad Nisou, this is the second opportunity in a row to present itself in the premises of this important Slovak museum institution. "The cooperation between the SNM - Historical Museum in Bratislava and the Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou dates intensively from 2018 and is supported by a memorandum of cooperation. It was opened with the exhibition TWO AS ONE, on the occasion of the celebration of 100 years since the establishment of the common state", said its director Peter Barta.
The exhibition at Bratislava Castle is already the fourth foreign presentation of the Jablonec museum this year, based on the last year of the triennial. "Innovations in utility glass were presented at the Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt am Main in January, and are currently on display together with Spanish glass in the former royal glass factory in La Granja (Spain). In May, we presented the designer jewellery from the Computer Jewellery exhibition in Legnica, Poland", said director Milada Valečková.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on the premises of Bratislava Castle on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 5 p.m. It will be open to the public from Sunday, June 16 to October 28, 2024.
